photo of Andrew Binns
Dr Andrew Binns is one of the founders of the Goonellabah Medical Centre and has been in general practice in Goonellabah since 1979. He is on the board of the Northern Rivers Division of General Practice and is medical editor of their magazine GPSpeak. He is also the inaugural chairman of the Australian Lifestyle Medicine Association and has always had an interest in lifestyle medicine. Dr Binns has co-authored two books with Prof Garry Egger, 'The Experts Weight Loss Guide' and 'Lifestyle Medicine' the latter of which had another co-author Swedish Prof Stephan Rossner. He has also in the past been medical director of the Palliative Care Unit at St Vincent's Hospital Lismore.

Dr David Guest has clinical interests in the optimal management of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. He has an interest in the use of computers and the internet to improve patient management. His current projects are streamlining the Centre's Diabetes Clinic (www.gmc.net.au/diabetes program) and the Wedgetail project (www.wedgetail.org.au) for better management of patients with chronic disease and the elderly patient at home.

Dr Ruth Tinker has a particular interest in women's health and antenatal care. She assists in theatre weekly, and is also active in the Northern Rivers Division of General Practice.

Dr Graham Ellis is one of the principals of the Goonellabah Medical Centre. He holds a Diploma in Practical Dermatology and has a special interest in skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology and sclerotherapy (injection treatment of veins and capillaries of the face and legs). He operates an authorised Mole Max Centre, which uses computer technology to diagnose and record moles and suspicious pigmented lesions.

Dr Elizabeth Skinner works as a General Practitioner at Goonellabah Medical Centre. A foundation of Elizabeth’s work is the joy of truly meeting people. Elizabeth has a gentle, caring approach in her practice of Evidence- Based Medicine and this has led many clients to choose to see her for their women’s health, children’s health and heart and lung conditions. She sees people with sleep problems, anxiety and depression. Elizabeth also has experience working at a Skin Cancer Clinic and in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and to this brings first-hand experience as a mother.
